It was a great day out at Sportscity, Manchester on Saturday June 29th. 12 athletes from the Club’s Sportshall Group took part in the DASH quadrathlon and some good performances were achieved in the sunshine.

Top 10 finishes were achieved by Sam Farnworth (7th U11), James Corrigan (9th U9) and Emily Raine (9th U11).
Even more pleasing was the fact that all of the athletes who had completed the 600m time trial on Wednesday 19 June at Witton Park reduced or matched their personal bests and they were – Kirsty Cura; Macy Cura; Sanaa Shaik; Kieron Carroll; Emily Laycock; Olivia Blow; Sam Farnworth; Emily Raine; James Corrigan and Chloe Jameson – so well done to all of them.
HARRIERS go top of the YDL Upper Age Group Division Northern West 2 and push for promotion to Division 1 – (led by Team Managers Jan Buckingham & Wendy Hitchon)
Blackburn Harriers moved to the top of the Northern Division West 2 on Sunday with an emphatic win in the 3rd Round Fixture. After a 2nd in the 1st Round at Ellesmere Port, the Club has followed up with successive victories at Carlisle and Blackburn which gives us a very good chance of winning the Division and promotion.

Blackburn athletes performed excellently registering 33 wins and 19 seconds in the individual events and then backed up with three wins in the relays, the first one being the Men’s 4 x 100m U17 Team of Gareth Johnson; Sam Charnley; Ben Aspinall; Jake Almond and then the Women’s 4 x 300m U17 Team of Roxanne Oliver; Phoebe Howe; Lottie Latham and Polly Pearse – the final Relay victory came in the Men’s U20 4 x 400m with Robert Savage; Connor Makin; Zac Howe and Joe Pearse.
Amongst the performances were victories for Zac Howe in the 400m ‘A’ and 1500m ‘B’; Jake Almond doing the double in winning both the 100m and 200m ‘B’ Races; Rob Warner winning the 800m and 1500m ‘A’ Races with Robert Savage chipping in with a win in the 800m ‘B’ Race. Joseph Howe making his debut in the Steeple Chase took the 1500 S/C ‘ A’ Race and there was a good win for Nathan Billington in Javelin ‘A’ with 2nd places in Discus and Hammer.
The Multi-Eventers in the Team did really well too. Joe Pearse took victories in the 110m Hurdles and Long Jump ‘A’ events which was backed with victories for Connor Makin in the 110m Hurdles ‘B’ and 400m Hurdles ‘A”. Ben Aspinall kept it going with wins in the ‘B’ Long Jump and ‘A’ Triple Jump. There also good performances from Gareth Johnson, Sam Charnley and Joe Monk,
Amongst the Girls there some equally good performances. Pride of place probably goes to Rhiannon Wickham who won the the U17 3000m for the third fixture in a row. If she can win again at the last fixture, she will have a clean sweep.
Polly Pearse won the ‘A’ events for 80m Hurdles and High Jump – Roxanne Oliver won the 300m Hurdles ‘A’ – Rebecca Sullivan triumphed in the ‘A’ 400m Hurdles – Rebecca Orrell won the ‘A’ Hammer and Olivia Brooks the ‘A’ Long Jump. Backing them up were wins from Holly Ballantyne and Jacinta Davison in the 1500m; Natasha Mols won the ‘B’ High Jump and Phoebe Howe took victory in the ‘B’ 800m.
