The Harriers had just two runners – Kaylie Panaro and Catherine Guinan in this years Marathon, both of whom had excellent runs on the day.

Kaylie in her second Marathon – she did London in 2013 – knocked nearly twelve minutes off her time from last year finishing with 3.55.27. and celebrated by going straight to the pub!! Catherine, in her first ever attempt at the distance also had a really good run debuting with a time of 4.02.40.

In the London Mini-Marathon, two of the Clubs leading young women athletes competed for the North West in the British Athletics Under 15 Girls Road Championship and both had good runs with Liz Greenwood finishing 22nd overall and counting for the North West Team which finished second and Grace Handley having missed a couple of weeks training and targeting a top 50 position finishing in 40th.

After she got back home Liz told the Club that she really enjoyed the race and atmosphere and even saw Tom Daley and Andy murray. Afterwards we went and watched the elite athletes in the marathon which was amazing especially when Mo Farah ran past us. Overall it was a fantastic experience running through the centre of London with all of the supporters and I was really happy with my race”.

Grace was equally pleased and commented “I went to the London mini marathon on Saturday 12th April on the north west coach along with my team mate Liz greenwood. I ran the last 3 miles of the marathon the next day representing the north west against other regions and the Borough’s of London. I came 40th overall out of over 100 runners and was very pleased as I went in hope for top 50 after 2 weeks off training. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will hopefully be picked next year as an u17”.
