Michael also won an award himself recognising his own coaching successes in previous years as well as currently which have included coaching Sophie and now bringing U15 Charlotte Williams and U17 Jacob Roberts through to the top of their event. This Award – The Webb Quaich –  is presented to ‘someone who has voluntarily given extraordinary time, energy and expertise in some way, which has benefited the British Hammer throwing fraternity’.

Charlotte competed at the Woodford meeting winning the U15 Girls Hammer Competition with a throw of 57.10m. That throw means that Charlotte is :

(1) 3rd on the all time list in the British Rankings – (1) 58.01 – (2) 57.74m – Charlie 57.10m

(2) set a new PB

(3) she broke her own Club Record which was previously 55.89m by well over a metre

(4) she finishes the 2016 season in second place in the National Rankings

(5) for her efforts during the season Charlotte was awarded The Paul Dickenson Salver for the best under 15 girl of  the year.

It was a very happy Charlie speaking to the Club after the weekend telling us “So today I finally reached what I have been aiming for. I got 57 meters 10cm. Which is the 3rd ever best throw by an U15 girl and only 1 meter behind the best ever throw. To get this I had to put a lot of effort and hard work in, but it shows it all pays off! For my last competition of the season I am very pleased with the throw! I am very excited for next seasons throws but before all that, is hard winter training. Also I’d like to say thanky ou to everyone who supported me this year, Mick, mum, dad and all of Blackburn Harriers”.
