A Good, Good Friday for the Harriers

Salford 10 Road Race

Some cracking performances from the Harriers on Good Friday at the Salford 10k. The Vets Team of Andy Buttery 20th overall in 33:17); Mark Almond (47th – 35:11) and the evergreen John Chaplin (75th 36:36) took the Mens Team 1st prize which was an excellent result. John also won the V55 Individual prize with another great run. Mark knocked 49 secs off his PB to show that he is in good form for the upcoming London Marathon, as is Andy who was not far away from ducking under 33 mins.

Another cracking performance from Christopher Davies who finished 95th in 37:39, knocking a whopping 2mins 48 secs off his previous PB. Watch this space!! Steven Foley in a big improvement on his season’s best to-date ran a fine race¬† (102nd 37:46), which saw him get back into PB territory and just reward for a lot of hard work. Shelley Tattersall came 219th in a time of 42:44 and another athlete who is approaching her PB territory. Last but by no means least was Vet 60 Graham Pomfret who finished 265th in 44:39. Graham who ran 3:17.59 as a Vet 55 (only a few months short of being 60yrs of age) and who misssed the whole of 2012 as a result of injury is clearly back. Tough as boots, we call him at the Club.

Caldervale 10 Mile Road Race

Three intrepid Harriers turned up for this one, a race described as tough with a deceptively quick first two miles, just before the hills kicked in. First home in 8th place overall (61:32) was Chris Barnes. Richard & Jackie Taylor also made the trip with Richard in 84th (1:18.50) and Jackie in her first Race for a long time in 126th (1:25.58).
