The Bolton 10k is usually run on the same weekend as the London Marathon and this year, two athletes from the Club braved the wind and the rain along with 590 other runners to compete. First home was Christopher Davies who will be looking to run his first Marathon in 2014 in 27th place (38.51) and then John Cookson in 124th place (45.14).

Liverpool Throws & Jumps Fixture held on April 20th had three of the Harriers Young Throwers competing. Jack Vickery competed in the U20 Mens Hammer (6kg) finishing 3rd and throwing just short of his PB (48.85m) with 48.06m. Nathan Billington in his first year as an U17 also competed in the Hammer finishing 5th with a throw of 32.02m and just short of his season’s and personal bests of 33.25m. Rebecca Orrell, another athlete in her first year as an U17 competed in the Shot Putt (4kg); Discus (1kg) and Hammer. Rebecca recorded two PB’s on the day which was a really fine performance. The first one was in the Hammer where she won the event with a throw of 32.33m and the second PB was in the Shot Putt finishing 3rd with 8:43m. In her Discus she was just a touch shy of her PB (25.50) with 25.12m for another 3rd place.

Latest Park Runs – Stuart Furness (V60) ran the Bolton Park Run on April 20th finishing 33rd (23.54) out of a field of 175 runners.

On the same day at Burnley 186 runners lined up. Natalya Irvine finished 11th overall (20.29) a new PB and was to boot, the first female athlete home of any age group which was a great run. Kelsey Rutherford also ran a great PB in 21st place (21.30). John Cookson in his first venture out in a Park Race finished 30th (22.03) and in front of his daughter Hannah Cookson 50th (23.51) who in turn was followed in by Megan Clarkson 63rd (24.37).

In Preston, again on the same day, Joe Monk was the sole runner for the Club finishing in a really fine 5th place (18.23) out of a field of 133 runners.

In the Bunny Run Relays held in Yorkshire with the latest on April 16th 315 runners took part. The Race, won by Tom Adams (Ilkley) in 15.38, saw Chris Barnes being the first Harrier home in 39th (18.17). Liz Greenwood had a great run to win the F16 age group in 69th place (19.13) which was her second victory in the Series so far. Not far behind was Helen Leigh in 86th (19.48) and Kelsey Rutherford also in the F16 Age Group 143rd (21.33).
