Four members of the Harriers competed at this years British University Championships in Bedford between May 3rd – 5th – Jamie Vickery, brother Jack Vickery, Paul Bradshaw and Karl Billington.

Jamie started off really well in winning his 100m Heat in 11.26 which was a season’s best, but sadly pulled his hamstring and that ended his Championships. Jack took 13th place in the Men’s Hammer with a solid throw of 41.84m and currently lies in 28th place in the U23 National Rankings.

10294294_628530513890109_556270131764378851_nKarl had a Heat of the 5000m to negotiate finishing 4th in 15.09.0 having had to “race the heat in flats just so i could race the final to my full capability” due to problems with his calves. In the Final, Karl finished 6th in 14.53.65 and commented “the first time i have broke 15 minutes on the track for FOUR years this was off a 9 06 first 3k. I feel there is a PB in there for sure just a matter of getting in the right race”

1175398_10152025200171957_5908391902039527022_nPaul had a real busy weekend with three 800m races and two Races in the 4 x 400m Relay. He started off in his first Heat of the 800m by winning in 1.58.64 and took 2nd place in the semi-final with 1.52.03. Then in the Final he finished 6th in 1:53.35.  Next to the 4 x 400m for the UWIC Team and a third position in the semi-final in a time of 3.21.00. In the final, they really excelled and came home with the gold medal in 3.16.46.

U13 Charlotte Williams fresh from setting three new PB’s with 12.9 for the 70mH, 1.30m in the High Jump and 7.80m in the Shot Putt at Ellesmere Port on Saturday 3rd May in the YDL Lower Age Group, Charly turned her attentions to the Bank Holiday Trafford Medal meeting on Monday; and what a performance!  She took another tenth of a second of her Hurdles PB which is now 12.8sec, added 31cm in winning the Shot for a new PB of 8.11m, to earn silver and gold medals and then topped it off with another silver in the High Jump with 1.25m, just short of her HJ PB.
