Kirkham Grammar school hosted a sportshall competition on Wednesday 27th November between themselves and Blackburn Harriers.
Danny Maynard, the Lead Coach for the Club’s Sportshall Team told us that “the boys lost a close match, however, the girls made up for the loss with a huge winning margin that allowed us to win. The athletes displayed excellent sportsmanship and the coaches are extremely proud of how they conducted themselves during and after competing. They were a credit to the club”.

Top 10 finishes were achieved by Sam Farnworth (7th U11), James Corrigan (9th U9) and Emily Raine (9th U11).
Even more pleasing was the fact that all of the athletes who had completed the 600m time trial on Wednesday 19 June at Witton Park reduced or matched their personal bests and they were – Kirsty Cura; Macy Cura; Sanaa Shaik; Kieron Carroll; Emily Laycock; Olivia Blow; Sam Farnworth; Emily Raine; James Corrigan and Chloe Jameson – so well done to all of them.
Amy Davies ran – June 18th – for her school (St Peters R C Primary School) in the 700m race after being offered the place as a result of another girl having to drop out with an injury. It was the Blackburn & Darwen Junior Schools Running event. The Race was for Year 6 girls and Amy is only Year 5 but the school found out that Amy could take part in the race. There were 27 schools involved including Amy’s and she and won it which was a fine result.
Well, the Cookson family certainly know how to do it is style. On June 9th they took a car ride up to Morecambe to enter Hannah and Kate into the 1 mile Fun Run and dad John into the 10k.
Well – Hannah won the race and got a CD Player for her fine performance and Kate came 6th. As for Sportshall Coach dad, well he says he was at the Race but they don’t seemed to have picked him up on the Results radar.
