Dominic Bretherton in his first Indoor season kicked off the day in the Senior Mens 60m with a 4th placed 7.49. Another Senior first timer over the 60m Indoors was Callum Fitzpatrick who competed for the Harriers some time ago and he took a good 2nd place in a time of 7.42.

Bottom of age U17 Cameron Massey set off the Indoor season with a bang in the 300m knocking two and half seconds off his previous best time to set a new PB with a 2nd placed 40.88 and then posted a 10.23 for the 60m Hurdles to finish in 2nd place. In the Shot, Cameron moved up to the new weight of 5k and came 2nd with a throw of 9.90m.

Brother Nicholas Massey (U15) competing for the first time Indoors and over 300m ran 42.82 which was a pretty solid run first up. He then went on to win the U15 60m Hurdles in a very good time of 9.30 and also won the Shot Putt with a throw of 8.84m. Roxanne Oliver (U20) was also competing for the first time Indoors running 10.14 for the 60m Hurdles.

Performance of the day came from U17 Morgan Angland  who said “Good start of the indoor season 1st and new pb of 9.1 get innn” after she  won the the 60m Hurdles in a time of 9.15 setting a new PB and breaking the existing Club Record which was held by Olympian Holly Bleasdale at 9.28. Morgan’s Coach Bob Groves was pleased and said “In the starting position the hips are higher than the shoulders ( this makes it hard to hold, doesn’t it Morgz ) but the hurdling is smooth , confident and aggressive ) Even though she is winning there is no easing up, with a dip finish. The hurdling is balanced with minimal arm movement”. Morgan’s mum was just as delighted saying after the Race that she was a “Very proud and Happy Mum,
Yesterday at sportcity Manchester Morgan Angland ran in the u17 women’s 60m hurdles and won the race in a time of 9.15 which is not only a pb but also is a new club record for Blackburn Harriers. Well done Morgan and big thanks to her hurdles coach Bob Groves”.

Charly was pleased with her performance commenting “Good start to new season in u15. New pb in long jump 4.17 and 3rd in hurdles and 4th in Shotput. Well done Blackburn”.

U20 Ben Aspinall set off his season with a win in the Long Jump (6.16m) and given he hasn’t been able to train for this over the last few months was an impressive performance. Callum Fitzpatrick also competed in this event (6th) with 5.70m as did Olivia Brooks with a jump of 4.49m.

U17 Huzaifa Hanif had intended to compete at Sportscity but was unable to as he had school work to complete. Instead, Huzaifa, who has recently lifted his weekly mileage, bought himself a Train Ticket and made the 180mile round trip ride to Sheffield to compete at EIS on Saturday December 6th in the 600m.
