Three Blackburn Harriers competed for their counties at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham in the English Schools’ Combined Events finals over the weekend, having qualified as individuals through their respective county and then regional finals. Rebecca Sullivan represented (West Yorkshire), and Joseph and Polly Pearse (Lancashire).

In what were extremely high quality fields which are found at all schools’ finals, the three competed in their respective heptathlon and decathlon events over the two days and were a credit to both their club and counties. In the Senior Girls Heptathlon Rebecca finished 8th adding 201 points to her previous best, setting a new PB with a total of 4146 points. Polly in the Intermediate Girls Heptathlon had a solid event gaining experience at this higher level with a 3295 total. Joe finished 13th in the Senior Boys Decathlon equalling his last year’s Octathlon position with PB’s in pole vault, javelin and 400m with a total of 5370 points.
