ROAD

Some fine performances this weekend in the Trafford 10k (March 10th) which had 743 finishers. Ben Fish led home the Harriers in 2nd place overall in a time of 29:58 which was an excellent time given the very windy conditions. Karl Billington ran really well for a new PB of 30:32, as did Peter Matthews who also ran a PB in 32:06. With Ben 2nd in the Race, Karl 7th and Peter 26th, the Harriers won the Team prize as well. There were other really good runs too. Andy Buttery, training for the London Marathon, finished 53rd overall in a time of 33:28; Shaun Livesey 76th in 34:18; and Steven Foley 188th in 38:30.

At the RODDLESWORTH ROLLER (March 10th), John Sutton had a fine run finishing 4th overall out of 173 runners in a time of 36:10min with the ever improving Christopher Davies just two positions behind in 6th place overall in 37.46min. A good run by Joseph Howe saw him come in 18th place in 39:44min and backed by John Cookson 38th (42:47);  Paul Wilkinson 57th (44:40) and Michael Nolan 64th (45:28).

In the DAFFODIL DODDLE  – 192 runners – run at the same venue before the main Race, there were a lot of Harriers youngsters out competing. Pride of place goes to 16yr old Harry Paige who won the Race by 18sec in a time of 10:13min and also won his age category. He was followed in by Byron Abbott 3rd overall and winner of his age category M14; new member Joe Monk in 5th place and winner of his age category M15; Thomas Harbour in 7th place and winner of the age 13 male category; Jack Wilkinson in 11th place and also winner of his age category M12 along with Natalya Irvine in 12th place who also won her age category F12. Six runners in the top 12 places and all winners of their respective age categories. And the Harriers didn’t stop there. Eleesha Charnley finished 55th in the Race and won the F9 age category and with a huge smile on her face as always.

But this was by no means the end of it for the Harriers. Hannah Cookson finished in 24th place; Kelsey Rutherford in 26th; Phobe Howe in 29th; Rhys Charnley 34th; Charlotte Taylor 56th; Rose Abbott 68th; Oliver Wilkinson 93rd; Kate Cookson 138th as a 6yr old and Skye Summer 155th.

16 young runners competed in the race in not the best of conditions and they did themselves and the Club proud.
