Blackburn Harrier Jan Buckingham decided to enter the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge and in doing so, used it to raise money for Diabetes UK. Before the Race Jan had already reached a figure of £750 and was aiming to raise a total of £1000.00.

She has now gone over the £1000.00 mark and there is still an opportunity to contribute to the total of money that Jan has already raised by giving a donation through Just Giving HERE

After the event Jan told the Club The Isle of Wight ultra challenge was an amazing experience. 106km of stunning scenery in glorious weather. The majority of the 1500 entrants walked the distance, but a few hardened runners took it on. I managed to run 80km over the 2 days and off the 350 people competing over two days, came 2nd. With 1700metres of climb, it was anything but easy, but very well organised and supported throughout. I finished with very sore legs, blistered feet and sunburn, but with a very big smile!

106 kilometers in two days is a hell of a feat and Jan was over the moon with her performance saying that she was “Even more proud. 106km ( 108k as took wrong turning on day 1)! Came 2nd woo hoo!!
