Fabulous racing at this years Armagh International Road Races as sixteen women ran under 9.30 with 49 women clocking sub 10 minute runs over 3k. In the Men’s 5k Race, 113 ran sub 15 minutes overall – 12 of whom clocked sub 14 minute times.

In 2018 Jess Judd clocked 9.03 in 2nd place to Laura Weightman at the Armagh 3k Road Race. One year later, on Valentines Day 2019, she placed 2nd again, this time to Steph Twell (8.59) after running a great race herself in clocking a time of 9.05, just two seconds outside her presonal best. After the Race, Jess spoke to the Club saying I’m really happy with my race, just not as fast as I’d like to be right now but it is difficult when training for the cross country and getting back from illness and injuries! Think I’m getting there but always nice to know I still have things to work on! Really enjoyed the race and was nice to watch the mens race after too”.

L-R Jess Judd (2nd in 9.05) – Steph Twell (1st in 8.59) – Amy Griffiths (3rd in 9.10)

Women’s 3k Race Results

Rob Warner went into the Men’s 5k Race – won by Topi Raitane in 13.43 – with a personal best time of 14.49 as he placed 81st in the 2018 Armagh 5k. This year Rob chopped another 8m seconds off to clock a new PB of 14.41 in 68th position. Afterwards, Rob told the Club I perhaps didn’t pace it that well in the middle and started to fade a bit from 3-4k, was a great race to be a part of though with over 100 breaking 15 mins! It was an okay run from me, I would have a liked to be looking more towards 14:30 but I can’t complain with a PB after not the best winter!
