Bob finished 54th overall and won the V50 – V60 Age Category 1st Prize in a time of 4hr. 55min. 18seconds in the Race which is the full marathon distance – 42K with an elevation gain of 2700m and starting in Chamonix with the finish 1000 m above Chamonix.

What was also remarkable about this win and the time was that Bob had a very nasty fall 3k from the finish in which he split open his head and had cuts to his face arms and legs. He picked himself up, asked some hikers to check him over and continued to Race until the end, to secure the 1st prize by just two minutes in front of the V50 runner who had passed him when he had the fall. If you look closely at the photo below you will see the extent of the injuries to Bob’s face.
Bob told us that “The course is absolutely beautiful but quite challenging trails and underfoot conditions. Went well for the whole race but the fall about 3k from the finish slowed me a little.

It would be great if some of our harriers could sign up for next year”
