Tom Blaney and Joe Monk continue to race regularly. Their latest run out came in the Welcome Tavern 5k at Walton-Le-Dale on 28th May. Tom ran a new PB by eleven seconds, finishing in 2nd place (17:26) just behind Jason Parker from Preston Harriers who triumphed in a time of 17:04. Joe who is bottom of age U17 also ran a great PB – knocking 15 seconds off his previous best coming home in 7th place (18:23).

Matt Lalor, who runs for Blackburn Harriers on the track, took to the roads with a win at the Burnley Lions 10k in Colne on May 24th. This course is not an easy one to run and to win the race in 34:58 was a fine effort.

“Bragging rights” were up for grabs at the Bowley Hill Race in Great Harwood on May 27th. Six Blackburn Harriers competed here – Andy Buttery 4th (41:31) – Shaun Livesey 5th (41:40) – Chris Barnes 7th (43:08) – Gary Pearse 9th (44:01) and first V45 – Richard Taylor 20th (53:24) and Jackie Taylor 29th (54:53).

Andy Fleet – 2nd Claim member for Blackburn – went over to Oldham on May 29th and competed in the Dovestone Diamond Multi-Terrain Race featuring 241 runners. It was won by Ian McBride of Royton in 36:01 with Andy coming in with a fine run in 4th place (39:11).

Pauline Powell had another first class run and is in really good form. Pauline lined up at the Catforth Canter 5k at Preston on June 1st finishing 7th overall (17:56) – 1st Woman and 1st V40.
