(Race Winner Jon Green leading the field at the start of the Race as they approach Cartridge Hill at the inaugural Royal Rumble Race held at Tockholes on Bank Holiday Monday where the rain thankfully held off until the end)

This local Race was a new venture and Blackburn Harrier Richard Taylor – the Race Organiser – commented afterwards that “The Royal Rumble was a new race on a new route combing Roddlesworth Woods and Darwen Tower. It is the 2nd event under English Hill Runners and set up as a test event to show prospective race organisers of fell and hill races that there is an alternative way to register and insure their events. It was a small field of 39 runners, but was a good test of the route and race management procedures. Feedback is being taken and with a view to having 2 or 3 events around the area in 2016 £50 was donated to Bolton Mountain Rescue who came with fantastic support for the event and a full report of the race will be on www.englishhillrunners.com in the next 24 hours”

Chris Davies was the first Blackburn Harrier home in 3rd place (37.10) followed by Dominic Mahoney 6th in 39.48 – Liz Greenwood 9th in 41.10 and 1st Woman – Beckie Taylor 12th in 42.14 – Connor Mahoney 16th in 44.53 after going the wrong way – Carly Edwards 18th in 45.26 – and Paul Wilkinson in 27th (53.54). The Harriers also won the Team Prize.
