It wasn’t the best day at Sunderland weather wise, and we had a number of athletes missing on the day, but that didn’t stop those Harriers who travelled being determined to put everything into their Races. Pride of place goes to the U15 Girls Squad who finished 6th overall out of 23 Teams entered with a 10th position for Liz Greenwood, 11th for Grace Handley; 76th for Deni Impett and 136th for Phoebe Howe.

The U13 Girls also did themselves proud, although one athlete short to make up the Team. Natalya Irvine came home in 74th place  out of 264 athletes in the Race; Hannah Cookson in 90th place and Charlotte Taylor 156th. A really brave effort in those conditions.

Other Club members braved the elements and competed. In the U13 Boys, Jack Wilkinson who is showing real improvement of late finished 152nd, but again, in the conditions, that was a creditable run.

In the U17 Men’s Race, Morgan Philips, who has competed consistently well in the local Leagues this year, finished in 181st place.

The Senior Mens Race saw Chris Barnes lead the other Harriers home in 240th place out of a field of 999 finishers. Backing Chris up were John Cookson, and John Orrell.
