Three ‘casualties’ during the week – Andy Butterey, David Thornton and Gary Pearse – meant there was some last minute call ups to slot into the Team leading up to the Bradford Millenium Way Relays. Phil Morton, Richard Taylor and John Cookson all threw their hats into the ring to complete the Team on the day.

Leg 1 had John Chaplin and Phil Morton handing over in 13th place. Leg 2 Team Chris Barnes and Chris Davies gained 5 places handing over in 8th position. On Leg 3 Richard Taylor and John Cookson held on to 8th place, with ‘Captain’ Chris Barnes describing it as a great run by the duo running something like 5 minutes faster than their predicted time.

Mark Almond and Jonathon Bridge set off really well and closed down the gap only to miscalculate in the last mile, managing to add 5 miles on to the leg! Any cartographers in the house? This left the Team in 25th place. Shaun Livesey and Matt Nuttall rose to the challenge on Leg 5 setting a Course Record time for the Vets by over 6 minutes (72.39) on Leg 5 to bring the Team back to 15th place.
