Ben Aspinall entered the U20 Triple Jump at the Championships which was his first competition since August 2015 following a spate of injuries that impeded his season which saw him break through the 14m barrier. Ben won the Silver Medal with a leap of 13.08m which represented a solid start for him and he commented that he had “missed an awful lot of training due to injuries at the end of summer season, so have been trying to get back into it recently, which is why the distance wasn’t there but it was a bonus to have received the medal off tony himself”.…referring to Tony Wood who is Chairman of Blackburn Harriers and Northern Athletics.

Jamie Vickery had already tested himself Indoors at the Sportscity Winter Series in the 60m and 200m posting 7.33 for the 60m and 22.71 for the 200m. At the Championships, Jamie went one better setting a new 60m PB of 7.16, running that time twice in getting to the semi-finals backing it up with a seasons best 22.64 in the 200m semi-final.  Jamie spoke to the Club after the Championships and told us “I’m really pleased with how this weekend went, finally broke a 9 year old PB in the 60m and only missed my 200m PB by a hundredth. Obviously frustrated to have been one spot outside the final in the 200m but I can’t not be happy, it’s a great base to work from both for the outdoors and later in the indoor season”.
