On a lovely sunny evening, down at Witton Park Arena, home of Blackburn Harriers & AC, athletes, coaches and family members stood to applaud the memory of Joe Fleming, our High Jump Coach who sadly passed away recently. Joe had Coached at the Club for three decades and to honour that, everyone stood in Lane 3, socially distanced, as a mark of respect for those years.

Joe’s daughter Julie had this to say after the emotional tribute paid to her dad by those who assembled in his memory It was overwhelming and a beautiful gesture that you arranged. We had many happy years down the track and it was very fitting. My Dad was a modest Man who would truly have appreciated the tribute. I can’t thank you enough. It was lovely seeing faces from the past too”. It was emotional with many faces from our past showing their respects. My Dad would never of expected that and would have been absolutely blown away with it. Thank you to all the athletes, family and friends who attended and stood on the track to clap for Dad. It was absolutely amazing. Dads favourite song was ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and he certainly hasn’t, he had a lot of love and friendship through his life. Thank you to you all 💕💕💕
