Caerwen Butler spoke to the Club about the day telling us “Well done to all the Blackburn Harriers athletes who were selected to compete for Lancashire at the Regional indoor sportshall championships on Sunday 16th February. Competing for the Under 11 girls was Hannah Davies who ran in the combined relays and individually competed in the high stepper and the U11 girls won overall.

We had quite a few compete in the Under 11 boys; Mason Bowman, Zacchary Hearle, Harry Pilkington and Jack Carrington. All boys competed in a number of relays as there are no individual track for U11’s and field events representing their county well, the Lancashire U11 boys finished 2nd overall.

For the Under 13 girls we had Isabela Thompson, Tilly Pollard and Amelia Burton. All competed well in the individual races and field events although our star shot putter, Tilly, became injured in the first relay after a bad fall but still continued supporting with her arm in a sling and a smile on her face. The U13 girls came 4th overall.

Matthew Smith was the only Blackburn Harrier in the U13 Boys and threw the shot putt an event that he hasn’t often competed in but competed well for the team. He also ran in the relays helping the team gain 3rd place overall.

We had no athletes representing in the under 15 girls but had 4 out of the team of 6 in the Under 15 boys; Hayden Mercer, Codie Dewhurst, Isaac Butler and Thomas Monks. All athletes had to compete in two field, one track and one relay. Overall the Lancashire team just missed gaining first place by a few points. Overall individual results were Hayden Mercer-5th, Thomas Monks equal 12th, Isaac Butler16th and Codie Dewhurst18th. This year had the biggest contingent of Blackburn Harriers athletes gaining a Lancashire place for some time. Well done to all involved and to the parents who helped officiate and team manage”.
