Harriers Alison Leonard and Paul Bradshaw competed at the BMC meeting in Watford on Wednesday May 7th and put in two cracking runs in far from ideal conditions.

After running 2.05.81 at Watford on April 23rd, Alison cut nearly three seconds off that time in winning her 800m race in 2.02.85, a time which sees her placed 5th in the National Rankings at this early stage of the season. She told the Club that this was the  Fastest since 2010 so really happy. Went through in 59 so last 100 was a bit interesting, but really enjoyed it and can’t wait to race again” And further great news for Alison as she has just been informed that she will be representing England in the 1500m at the forthcoming Loughborough International Meeting.

Paul who had a very busy weekend at the BUCS, running in the 800m’s and 4 x 400m for UWIC came second in his 800m in a time of 1.51.51 just marginally outside his season’s best and placing him at 22nd in the National Rankings. After the Race he said that Watford was great. Really windy and decided to attack into the wind and make it a true run race. As always a good meet put on by the BMC and for early in May I feel I’m now in a good place to sharpen up ready for the coming weeks”.
