Jess Judd has been in the US for a couple of weeks now. On May 1st she raced at the Kansis City Qualifier in Leavanworth, placing 3rd in a time of 15.36.19 in thew 5000m.
Last night Jess ran at the USATF Golden Games and produced a tremendous performance, coming home in 4th place inside the Olympic Qualifying time as she clocked 15.06.02, which was a big new personal best by ten seconds and nearly four seconds inside the qualifying time of 15.10.00.
The quality of the race was evidenced by the fact that the winner – Canadian Julie-Anne Steahli ran a personal best of 15.02.34, the runner up, Mexico’s Laura Glvan Rodriguez ran a national Record time of 15.02.48 with another Canadian athlete in 3rd place – Natalia Hawthorn – also running a new personal best of 15.05.91 – just a tenth of a second in front of Jess.
We were delighted to hear from Jess after her success in the Race as she told us “I had a really rough race last Saturday so wanted to try again and luckily it paid off! Lost a lot of confidence after last week but have had a hard couple of weeks, and just so grateful to run a PB and feel good!! had a lovely time in the US and really grateful to Rob for accompanying me and helping me out here! “
