2134 athletes had qualified for the World Championships and 1963 athletes finished the Race with quite a number not being able to complete. Brian took 260th place overall and 177th in his Age Group Category (30 – 34).

His time of 9hr 31.25 was fabulous for the Race which comprises a 2.4 mile swim in the sea (71.53) – a 112 mile bike ride (4hr 49.22) – and a Marathon of 26.2miles (3hr 23.03).

At the UK Ironman event in Bolton which represented the qualification Race for the Hawaii World Championships, Brian had posted a time of 9hr 43.43. In these World Championships he has knocked off another 12 minutes to establish a new PB.

In a text to one of the Harriers after the Race, Brian revealed that he had ‘run himself into the ground, ended up on a drip at the end but it was all well worth all the effort’.
