Gary Priestley who runs for Blackburn Harriers on the Track, turned his attention to the mountains when he contested the European Trial & Senior Home International at Keswick on 25th May 2013.

In a quality field of 40 athletes, Gary came home in 12th place beating the Commonwealth Champion – James McMullan as well as Tom Adams, Lloyd Taggart and Lewis Timmins; And now after just 2 Races Gary is ranked a very impressive 3rd in the McCain Mountain Challenge.

At the Harrock Hill Race – Results HERE – 198 runners started the race and amongst them were Blackburn Harriers Gary Pearse and Steve Foley. Gary finished in 19th place (36.03) and second V45, whilst Steve came in 27th (37.06) and 3rd V45.

Not to be outdone, John Orrell decided to tackle the Austwick Amble, described by John as ‘no walk in the park’ and ‘don’t be fooled by the title’. Full Results HERE. 164 runners completed the race with John in 97th place (70.22).

Conscious about being continually upstaged by daughter Rebecca who keeps recording PB’s and Club Records, Father John is trying exceptionally hard to keep up with her. On June 1st, he celebrated his 4th anniversary of running – minus his trade mark headgear from the evidence of this photo – by tackling along with 143 other runners Pen-y-ghent finishing 95th in 68.06 and claiming a PB by just 6 seconds.
