George Woodburn joined the Club on 12th March 1964. In the 50 years since, he has competed for the Club in every single year which is a phenomenal achievement.

On Friday night at the Club’s Annual Presentation of Awards Evening, he was presented with an Award from the Club Committee in recognition of his commitment to the Club over half a century.

George’s Road Racing record includes PB’s of 30 minutes at 10k; 50 minutes for 10mile; 67 minutes for the half-marathon and 2hr 26 for the Marathon which are great times.

Heading home the trio of Harriers was Samantha McCreadie who finished 13th overall in 39.59 and was 2nd Woman. Next in with a new PB was Kaylie Panaro (41st) in a time of 45.51. The came George in a time of 46.59 (48th) and also won the V60 category. Great stuff.

Sam was pleased with the day and told us “This was the first Chorley Fire 10k – it was a 2 lap course and a decent route, fairly fast with only 1 real hill (that you had to do twice!). Unfortunately no pb for me but still pleased to get sub 40 (even if only just!!). Well done to Kaylie on her pb and great to see George racing again and picking up another prize!!”
