Ben Fish went down to contest the Swansea 10k on Sunday as part of his preparation for the Nottingham Marathon. The Race was pretty rapid and was won by Jonah Chesum in a cracking time of 28.53. Ben finished 4th overall in a seasons best time of 30.26 and said afterwards that “it’s another step in the right direction for Nottingham next week. I ended up with an even paced effort, reaching 5k in 15:13. It wasn’t a conscious effort to run that way, but that’s how it turned out.“

Sam McCreadie had targeted this Half-Marathon for some time now in a bid to set a new PB, her current best time being 93.01; And despite running with what turned out to be a fractured toe and in a lot of pain, she duly delivered, chopping over two minutes off her time to record a new PB of 90.55 to finish 11th overall and second placed woman. No doubt next time she will go under ninety minutes and she said after the Race that it was “A nice route starting and finishing in Lancaster castle and going out mainly along the canal path before running back on ourselves with a final steep climb back into the castle at mile 12.5! Gorgeous weather – just a shame I was in so much pain with my toe so couldn’t really enjoy it (turns out i’ve fractured it so can now barely walk!).”

Yarrow River 10k Trail Run – September 21st
A new Race this and it appears some problems as Harrier Chris Davies who competed in it told the Club “Fun and games at this race today. Went to do a 10k which I did but some people have gone the wrong way and only done 4.5 miles. The results will show me in a false position but after some discussion it was decided that I finished second on the day due to running the right distance. Anthony Valentine finished first even though he ran a lesser distance due to being sent the wrong way, he being the main calibre athlete on the day would have won it due to leading from the start. That said it is a really good course with some tough climbs in it, would recommend it. Just hope the organisers don’t get put of doing it again just because of a few teething problems.”
