Secretary Steve Duxbury hosted the 2015 Red Rose League Cross Country Awards night at the Horwich RMI Club with Colin Robinson presenting the Awards to all of the successful athletes.

SONY DSCIn a fantastic gesture by the League Steve called out a special guest from North West Air Ambulance and presented their representative with a cheque for £750. The League asks affiliated Clubs to make a recommendation each year for there favoured charity and this year North West Air Ambulance came out on top.

Winners of the Age Groups also got a £50 Voucher which will be very helpful to them in purchasing sports kit.

The Harriers has a pretty good season in the Red Rose League  and picked up winners Medals in the U13 Girls where Amy Davies came out on top with Eleesha Charnley in 12th spot. Maddie Elliott won the U15 Girls with Hannah Cookson taking a top ten spot in 10th overall and Chloe Bleeks 19th, the Team eventually finishing in 4th place, just four points off a trophy.

Also taking home Winners Medals were the U11 Boys team consisting of Edward Lee, Kyle Taylor-Pomfret, Rory Teare, Saul Sharp and Oliver Gill. The Age Categories provide trophies for the first six athletes over the four Race Series and Leah Hoole won a Trophy for coming 6th overall in the U11 Girls with Hollie Cubbon finishing in 8th place overall, Kate Cookson 37th, Amelia Tyson 41st, and Isabelle Hartley 61st.

SONY DSCMatt Ramsden took 2nd place in the U13 Boys to lead the Team consisting of Jamie Teare, Leon Thomas, Luke Ingleson and Daniel Brown home to 2nd place in the Team Competition over the Series.

The Senior Women’s Team didn’t finish in the prizes but they gave a very good account of themselves throughout the Series with Jan Buckingham finishing 73rd, Lorna Sharp 75th and Lindsay Davies 94th. Joanne Nelson (Darwen Dashers) who will be competing for the Harriers on the Track in 2016 had a great year winning the Senior Ladies title, the Vet Women’s Title and the V40 Women’s title.

The Senior Men took 2nd place overall – runners up to a very good Bolton Team. Shaun Livesey was the highest placed Harrier in the Individual Series Competition taking 12th spot overall with Chris Davies in 15th. Shaun also took another Trophy as runner up for being 2nd Vet over the whole Series. Also competing in different races throughout the Series all of whom helped to secure the Runner up spot were Chris Balderson, Allan Hartley, Craig Greenhough, John Cookson, Richard Taylor, Paul Wilkinson, Joe Monk, Tom Blaney, Marco Maggio, Rob Warner, Tim Raynes, Joe Howe, Brian and Richard Fogarty, David Almond, Mark Almond, Karl and David Billington, John Chaplin.
