Horwich Jubilee Road Race

The first fixture in the Horwich Jubilee Series took place on Wednesday night – June 17th featuring two hundred and ninety one runners and amongst them nine Blackburn Harriers and taking 3rd Team position overall.

Chris Davies headed home the Harriers with a top ten finish (10th) in 28.47 and just a few seconds shy of his PB of 28.39. Next home in 12th place was V45 Paul Guinan in 28.58 showing a return to form after a long period of injuries and taking 1st Prize for the V45 Age Category. Brian Fogarty (15th) in 29.22 and Conrad McKee (16th) in 29.27 pushed one another on resulting in Conrad finishing 3rd V40.

David Almond took 18th spot in 29.33 to make it five Harriers in the top 20 places also taking 2nd place in the V45 Age Group. U17 Tom Mckee also had a good run finishing 33rd in 30.49. Allan Hartley finished in 169th (34.25) with Kaylie Panaro 181st (38.43) and Dave Morris 270th in 47.55.

Seventy nine youngsters lined up in the One Mile Junior race with five of the Harriers having a go. First home and winner of the U13 Girls Age Category was Amy Davies with a fine run and a new PB of 5.53. U11 Holly Cubbon also had a good run to finish 20th overall and 3rd in her Age Category with a time of 6.16 and another new PB. In 33rd spot came Kyle Taylor-Pomfret in a time of 6.40 and 6th in his Age. Just two places behind him came U11 Saul Sharp in 35th and 7th in his Age Group. Finishing 59th was 8yr old Isabelle Hartley in 59th (7.49) – 5th out of the 10 youngsters in her Age.

The week before saw Evan Cook and Dave Morris run at the Haigh Hall Race in Wigan with ninety one runners taking part. V60 Evan Cook came in 22nd overall – (2nd V60) – in 27.07. Dave Morris was 77th in 37.51.
