Life couldn’t be better for Joe Pearse, the leading High Jumper at Blackburn Harriers. Having already cleared the 2.00m mark a couple of weeks ago, leaving him in 5th place in the U20 Men’s National Rankings, he has surpassed that already.

Joe is really pleased with his Indoor season and told the Club that “qualifying for the final went really well as i cleared every height first time however at 1.90cm i tweaked my knee which was a bit of a worry. The next day after a lot of physio and my knee now taped up i started off with a failure, which gave me the boost that i needed to really drive over those higher heights and finally up and over 2.04m on my final attempt to gain the bronze medal at my first ever BUCS competition”.

Alison Leonard set a new Indoor PB for the One Mile distance when she finished 9th in 4.38.37 at the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix at Birmingham. Her target after posting 4.13.57 for 1500m when she took the Silver Medal at the National Championships the week before, was to try and secure 4.13.00 at the 1500m mark as a qualifying time for the European Indoor Championships but unfortunately just fell short.
