Isabel Holt is having a cracking season in 2021. Recently the winner of the Pendle & Burnley Grand Prix Series in the U17 Girls age group, Isabel was also part of the Lancashire Team at the British Junior Inter-Counties Championships where she won the Individual Bronze Medal. Her performances have led her to being selected for the England U17 Mountain Running Team to represent them at the forthcoming Home Country International in the Mourne Mountains in Ireland. Many congratulations to Isabel from everyone at the Harriers who told us on the news of her selection “I am really pleased getting selected for the England team. I didn’t think I would get this far.”

From the Juniors with Isabel, on to the Seniors, and there is no stopping Helen Leigh at the moment. After winning the Sedbergh Hills Race last weekend – August 21st, she was out again, this time at the Ennerdale Show Race – a much shorter type of race that she is normally used to – in fact, it might even be described as her version of a sprint!.

Helen placing 15th overall and 1st Woman told us post-race “Races less than 2miles are not really my forté although I’ll take any racing after the last 5 years! I’m trying to force a bit of race fitness after months of plodding about and this sub 2mile dash with 200m of climb did the job! Felt strong even with Sedbergh in my legs and even better to take the win!”
