Mike – who is now a V70 – was competing at VSM Uddevalla in Sweden over the weekend and had this to say about how the competition went for him “Having heard of the UK weather at Brum this last w/e I was glad to have saved flight, hire car and hotel costs to have similar weather in Uddevalla – windy, wet and cold! Despite the above I have to be satisfied with my first M70 competition, 1 x 1st (shot), 2 x 2nds (discus & javelin) & 2 x 3rds (hammer & weight)

The facilities were good and until Sunday, organisation & officially up to the task. Unfortunately our weight throw started 90 mins late so I only had 4 throws before rushing off to the javelin. The shot result/distance is incorrect I won with 11.54. The 11.33 quoted was My last effort!! All putts were over 11 except one which rolled out of my hand.  Discus 2 throws over 37 before the rain really came down therefore 4 NT!. In both hammer & weight I was up against 2 good hammer throwers.
It was good to lat down some markers for the Swedish throws pentathlon in Sept.”
