Liz raced in the U18 Age category where boys and girls competed together. Liz was first young woman home in 30.12 nearly half a minute in front of the second placed U20 Ellie Cronshaw from Dark Peak. Liz told the Club that “Despite the wet and windy weather conditions I really enjoyed my first fell race of the season! It was a tough course with a long steady climb up to shining tor made a little easier by the Marshall’s sending us on a short cut the wrong way. A great day was topped off by a win in the first race of the English fell champs series!”
Josh won his U16 Age category Race taking the win in a time of 23.34 some 15 seconds in front of second placed Eliot Matier of Eden Runners. A great start to the Championships for both these talented young athletes.

There were three more wins for the Harriers at the local 5k Park Runs. At the Preston Race one hundred and sixty five runners turned up in pretty bad conditions and among them three Blackburn Harriers. U17 Joe Monk had an excellent Race, winning it outright in a time of 17.11 from Jason Parker in second place and setting a new PB in the Park Run Races said he was “really pleased. Its a good three lap course, it was quite a tactical run as three of us were together after the first lap and I was surprised to find that pace quite comfortable and was able to pick it up on the second lap and get a parkrun pb as well”.

Finishing just one second outside of her previous best she said ” I was disappointed to miss out on my course PB by 1 second, but conditions were wet and windy. I was pleased to come first in my age category and 28 overall.”

Over at the Cuerden Valley Park Run which featured one hundred and sixty two runners Grace Handley added to the list of winners when she placed 10th overall and 1st Female in 21.45. After the Race she told the Club that “I’ve never done the Cuerden Park run before but it is definitely my new favourite course! The weather wasn’t exactly in my favour as it was heavy rain and strong winds but this only made the course muddier which in my opinion made it better!”
