Karl Billington is in excellent form at the moment having just run a PB of 8.17 over 3000m, he has now backed that up with an impressive 3.53.26 at Watford on May 6th taking 3rd place in the Race won by George Duggan in 3.52.0. Karl was really pleased with his run and told the Club thatI ran 3 53 for 3rd at Watford tonight in very windy conditions. my fastest time for 4 years and less then a second off my PB”……”My focus turns to Highgate 10000 now and then the 5k”.

Pretty difficult conditions at the Trafford Grand Prix for bottom of age U20 Joe Monk in the 3000m on Tuesday May 6th, but he coped with them well finishing 7th in a 26 strong field in a time of 9.31.82 which wasn’t far adrift from his PB of 9.28.3.

Three days before the Trafford 3000m and once more in windy conditions, Joe took on the Sherriff 10k and won it in a time of 35.26 from David Hamilton in 2nd place.

Some of the Harriers younger athletes took the opportunity to compete at the Stretford Open Meeting on Bank Holiday Monday and duly set up some new PB’s.

U11 and new member – Kyle Pomfret – set a new PB in the 75m in 4th place (13.54) and in his 600m race, set another new PB when he took 5 seconds off finishing 7th in 2.10.91. Then in his first competitive Long Jump he cleared 3.24m placing him 10th out of the 15 athletes competing.

Bottom of age U15 Emily Warren knocked two tenths of a second off her 100m time to set up a new PB of 14.15 and was a little bit off the pace when placing 4th in the 200m in 29.03. In the 75nmH she finished 2nd in 12.71 which was just 0.01 off her PB.

Another bottom of age U15 – Charlotte Williams – placed 2nd in the Shot Putt with 8.54m and then in her first competition with the new weight of Discus – 1.0kg – she again finished in a good 2nd spot, throwing a distance of 23.42m. Going up once more in weight in the Javelin – 500 – she had a solid throw of 17.68m.
