Last weekend – April 5th – saw the Senior and U23’s Lancashire Fell Championships at Pendle which also doubled as the English Championships and on April 6th, it was the turn of the Juniors in Age Categories U8 – U18’s.

Three of the Harriers Women lined up alongside the other 238 runners in the Race which was eventually won impressively by Victoria Wilkinoson of Bingley by nearly two minutes. First home for the Harriers in 15th place overall and 3rd in the Lancashire Championships was Helen Leigh in an impressive 43.40. Following her was Beckie Taylor in 30th place overall and 6th in the Lancs Championships with a time of 45.34. Beckie’s mum, Jackie Taylor, also tackled the race coming in 102nd and 32nd in the Championships (55.31).

eP4tDv1AkMdZbsps26CVAOJrJi211eQrNkibJx_9aAwr=w1208-h967-no Just two runners from the Club’s Senior Men in the Race which attracted a very big field of 340 and eventually won by just 10 seconds by Tom Addison (32.55) of Helm Hill from Rob Hope (33.05) competing for Pudsey & Bramley.

For the Harriers, Ian Clarkson came 265th in 50.37 with John Orrell in 295th place 53.09.

Men’s Results HERE

On Sunday, in the Junior Championships their were some really good performances on the day by the Harriers. In the U16 Race which saw 52 mixed boys and girls racing together, Liz Greenwood finished 8th overall and first Girl in a time of 23.19. Right behind her was Grace Handley 19th overall  in 25.17; Megan Clarkson 30th overall in 27.00 and Kelsey Rutherford 34th overall in 28.40. In the Lancashire Championship Race the girls occupied 1st; 2nd; 3rd and 4th place which was a great performance.

Alayna Irvine competed in the U8 Race, first of the day and finsihed 76th in 7.51. Sister Natalya Irvine ran in the U14 Race placing 44th of the 70 runners in the field in 24.52

In the U18 Men’s Race there were two more excellent performances from Jack Hindle who came 4th overall in 29.42 and took 2nd place in the Lancashire Championships. Joe Campbell came in 12th overall in a good time of 34.05 to be placed 5th in the Lancs Championships.
