Congratulations to Blackburn Harriers Matt Ramsden who has been selected to run for England at the Armagh 5k International Road race. Matt will be racing as part of a four man team including, Jack Kavanagh, Jack Gray and Charlie Brisley – the race taking place on Thursday February 13th. Matt has earned his call up for the England team after some very good performances this year including a 29.45.04 in the Night of the 10000m PB’s, a 13.48.12 at the England Athletics U23 Championships at Sportcity placing 2nd, winning the National U23 ‘s 5000m Championships in Birmingham, posting times of 13.49 and 13.51 at successive Podium 5k races as well as setting a new 1500m personal best of 3.47.08 and a 3000m personal best of 8.04.65. On December 29th, he ended the 2024 season with a new personal best for 10k on the road at the Ribble Valley 10k, recording a time of 29.23. Speaking to the Harriers about his selection, Matt told us that he “was delighted to get the news that I will be putting the England vest on for the Armagh 5k. It is a race I’ve wanted to do for a while and to compete in the England vest will make it even more enjoyable.”
