British Masters AF Championships  –  Lee Valley – March 13/14th

Mike won the Hammer (4kg) with a throw of 42.23m nearly 10 metres clear of 2nd place. He then won the Shot Putt with 11.30m and the Weight (7.26kg) with a throw of 15.42m. Mike was pleased about the ”beautiful weather all day” which clearly inspired him in place of the ”recent freezing weather” he left behind in Sweden.

On to the second day with Discus and Javelin. Mike won the Discus (1kg) with a throw of 37.80m, over eight metres clear of 2nd place and then came 2nd in the Javelin with 36.24 metres, just 30 cms away from winning a fifth Gold Medal. Mike said he “Couldn’t manage the ‘full pott’ but 4x gold and 1 x silver (30cm from gold!) not too poor! …… Good to see old mates and have a bit of banter. Onwards to Ancona and hopefully a bit better performances”. Mike is now off to the European Masters Championships in Ancona in a couple of weeks time and he takes Blackburn Harriers best wishes with him into those Championships.
