He also had Ian Clarkson out with him at Peny Y Ghent.

“Saturday 28th May Hutton Roof Crags was the start of what turned out to be a week long festival of racing. Very hot day and well down on my previous time from 2011. I can only liken running in hot weather to eating foreign food and drinking lager-very alien to me! 7 miles and 1302ft of ascent. Two days later it was Austwick Amble, 8.1 miles 1197 ft. ascent. Still hot but much better prepared and ran 3 min per mile quicker. Down just 15 seconds from last year. Glad of a beer and bacon butty at the end. Thursday night was Ingleton Scenery, a short blast around the waterfalls walk, 4.7 mile and 886ft of ascent. Determined to get at least one PB this week and just made it in 42.57 and 39th place. Pie and peas was the reward! Less than 48 hours later I was on the start line of Pen-y-Ghent with fellow Harrier Ian Clarkson. Another hot one. A good run considering and nice to finish in front of a few Clayton chaps. 99th in 1.15.30. for 5.9 miles and 1850ft ascent”.

Bryan Searby was also out on the Fells, tackling Hendersons End finishing 60th out of the 93 strong field in a time of  67.10 and telling us “I raced Hendersons End last night. Just under 7 mile fell race with 1250ft ascent. Twice up Rivington pike using the steps the first time. Over to Winter Hill then back up the pike. Struggled a bit at the start due to the heat, but pushed hard on the climbs.
