Tuesday night saw the first Trafford Meeting of the season run in good conditions, warm and little or no wind, in complete contrast to some of the weather that the athletes had experienced over the weekend.

Bottom of age U20 Nick Smith went in Heat 4 of the 800m with a personal best of 2.09.51 and bettered that by nearly two seconds as he clocked a new PB of 2.06.96 to kick off his track season in very good style.

Eleesha Charnley bottom of age U17 – ran in Heat 8 with a current personal best of 2.22.8 and matched that with a run of 2.22.82 in 3rd position whilst Amy Davies – 2nd year U17 – followed in Heat 9 coming home in 2nd place with a time of 2.27.71 and just two seconds outside her best.

Bottom of age U15 Theo Watson was making his debut at 1500m after running just seven track races since he joined the Club in 2018 – five of which have been 800m races, plus one 300m and one 200m race. He didn’t disappoint. With a target of sub 5.00 in mind, he came home with a very good time of 4.47.87 in Heat 1 with Hollie Cubbon running in Heat 3 finishing in 5.29.44.

In the 3000m – Marc Hartley, Karl Billington and Jacob Watson ran in Heats one and two of the 3 Heats. In Heat 1 featuring twenty six athletes, Marc worked his way through the field for a sub nine minute clocking of 8.56.57. Jacob and Karl contested Heat 2 which had twenty three athletes in it. Jacob was making his debut not only over the distance but also on the Track itself, never having raced on the surface previously. He looked comfortable as he ran even paced until 800m to go, then started to increase the pace and gradually pulled away to win comfortably in a time of 9.19.95 with Karl coming home in 6th place clocking 9.25.82.
