Wray Caton Moor – Bank Holiday Monday
John Orrell was out on the Fells again, this time at the Wray Caton Moor Race finishing in 96th in a time of 1hr.04.36. Afterwards John described his day saying “Wray Caton Moor, 6.8 miles, 1099ft of ascent. Eight years since I last had a go at this. Decided legs were fresh enough after Coniston and tackling Cote de Park Rash watching the Tour de Yorkshire yesterday on the bike. Well not so. Legs were heavy as soon as we hit the first climb. The trig at the top couldn’t come soon enough and I sure could feel those 25% grades from the bike now. Then a great descent, bogs and fields that went on forever too. Happy to pick up a couple of places at the top and two more on the way down”.
