IMG_0928“Winning isn’t everything, but trying to win is!” It’s been a really enjoyable two days at the British Masters Athletics Champs 2016. To go head to head with County, British, European and World Champions in the finals of the Javelin, Discus and Hammer, has been a great honour, with the added bonus of catching up with some old friends and then making some new ones. Championship objective achieved. Despite not being at my best, I’m pleased to have got two new personal bests (Javelin and Hammer) and two seasons bests (Discus and Shot), final results and placings are being compiled. Through new learnings it’s very possible to do much better in the near future championships and reach new personal excellence standards.

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence”. “So that’s the curtain closed on the 2016 season, time to have a holiday, a few weeks rest, then the 2017 season preparation starts all over again with prime objective of competing at the 2017 European Champs in Denmark. I’ve really appreciated the steady flow of kind words of encouragement and support from family, friends and all at Team Blackburn Harriers throughout 2016. Thank you”.

Wigan Harriers Arthur Seddon Medal Meeting – September 17th

Seven Blackburn Harriers were over at the Wigan meeting at the weekend, picking up a Club Record, wins and Medals.

Jacob Roberts entered both the U17 and U20 Hammer Competition at Wigan winning the U17 event with a throw of over 64m and then came 2nd in the U20 event with a throw of 60.07 which was a new U20 Club Record. Pleased with his day, especially with the 6kg Hammer, Jacob told the Club Last comp of the season for me and threw in the under 20s comp at Wigan. I haven’t thrown 6kg much this year and well happy that i managed to gain a good PB with 60:07 ( breaking the Harriers club record for under 20’s by over 7 meters plus ) good start for next years comps, need to get some hard winter training in and go far it next year . Thanks again to mick for all his hard work he has done with me”.

U15 Charlotte Williams threw in the U17 Women’s Hammer competition finishing 2nd with a throw of 50.80m whilst Holly Brookes contested the U20’s Discus placing 4th (22.58m).
