It was an end of season fun and happy day for some of the members of the Harriers Sprints and Jumps Squad as they turned out at the Southport Waterloo AC Open meeting, hosted at Litherland Sport Centre. Lucy Rishton, Imogen Crooks, Isabelle Hartley, James Tierney, Sam Mutombo, Daniel Nuttall, Charlie Unsworth, Harrison Allcock, Jacob Fisher, Henry Harwood and Oliver Palk all competed on the day recording ninme wins and setting nine new personal bests between them.

Imogen Crooks opened her day with a 2nd place in the U15 Girls 100m (13.6) and then knocked a full second off her 300m best time, coming home in 2nd spot with a new PB time of 44.3. Daniel Nuttall won his Heat 1 of the U15 Boys 100m (11.6), made it a win double by clocking 24.0 in the 200m before going on to record a hat-trick of wins on the day, taking the Long Jump with a leap of 5.98m – just one cm shy of his best. Great to see Jacob Fisher back after his protracted struggle with injury – and how – setting himself a new PB of 12.1 in 2nd place in the U15 Boys 100m and made it a double new PB on the day with his 24.8 clocking in the 200m (4th). Not stopping there, Jacob came 2nd in the U15 Boys Discus with a throw of 21.14m and in the Javelin, U17 Oliver Palk took the win with a throw of 37.96m.
U15 Henry Harwood equaled his best time of 12.2 as he won Heat 2 of the 100m and then ran another new PB in his Heat of the 200m, clocking 25.1 (3rd) an improvement of 3 tenths. Charlie Unsworth, Harrison Allcock and James Tierney made it a 1-2-3 in the U17 Men’s 100m – Charlie taking the win in 11.4, Harrison 2nd place in 12.0 and James 12.4 in 3rd – a whopping new PB by six tenths. U17 Oliver Palk joined the same pair – all running in Heat 1 of the 200m – Charlie taking the win, his second of the day in 23.0 with Harrison equaling his personal best in 3rd place (24.1) and Oliver clocking 24.8 in 4th for a new PB by one tenth. Lining up for the 400m with a best time of 56.8, Oliver set himself another personal best and a win in clocking a new PB time of 55.3 an improvement by a second and half. James was in Heat 2 of the 200m and came home in 2nd position with another huge new PB, by eight tenths of 25.2. U17 Women – Lucy Rishton and Isabelle Hartley ran in Heat 1 of the 100m with Lucy clocking 13.9 in 3rd spot and Isabelle 14.7 in 4th. Lucy later jumped 4.28m in the Long Jump in 6th spot whilst Isabelle clocked a time of 30.9 (6th) in the 200m. U20 Samuel Mutombo equaled his personal best over 100m clocking 11.9 (6th) in a mixed senior and U20 race before going on to knock off a huge 0.9 in his 200m, winning Heat 2 in a new PB time of 24.5 and later on in the day, leaping out to 5.58m in the Long Jump (2nd).
