An unbelievable finish to the Race saw Liverpool, who had the Gold Medal in the bag, go the wrong way on the last leg to hand victory to Leeds and resulted in Morpeth moving up to Silver Medal position and Salford to Bronze.

Just 44 seconds separated the Team from a top ten place. Ben Fish ran the fastest long leg for the Harriers (23.37) and 12th fastest of all Long Legs on the day which was a cracking run and was part of a very good performance by the Harriers ‘A’ Team in securing 11th position overall .Zac Howe ran the fastest Short Leg clocking 12.51 and the last five legs were very consistent with just 31 seconds between fastest and slowest runs.

The second of the Harriers Men’s Team placed 47th overall which was a pretty solid performance. In his first Race for the Club new member Conrad McKee ran the fastest Long Leg for the ‘B’ Team in 27.11 and John Sutton the fastest Short Leg with 13.54. Great spirit shown by the Team especially Brian Fogarty who ran with an infection and was on antibiotics but still completed his leg, as did Paul Bradshaw for the ‘A’ Team who hasn’t been able to train much lately due to illness. Two Harriers also ran in a ‘C’ Team – Mike Blacklidge running the first Long Leg in 33.50 and in his first ever competitive run for the Club, Sportshall Coach Ben Armstrong tackled the first Short Leg and finished with a solid time of 17.35.
