Witton Park Arena was chosen to host the Northern Inter-Counties U17 – U15 Track and Field Championships this year and apart from a few spots of rain early on, the weather improved and it turned out to be a cracking day of athletics.

In the overall competition, Lancashire (including the Isle of Man) came 3rd on the day with 255 points to North East Counties in 2nd place (265) and the winners – Yorkshire with 277.

A number of Blackburn Harriers athletes – Ross Liddle, Morgan Angland, Grace Handley, Nick Massey, Emily Warren, Maddie Elliott and Eloise Littlefair – were selected to run for Lancashire and had pretty good results on the day, two of them set new PB’s.

Ross Liddle (U17) placed 5th in the 100m Hurdles in 14.95 – Morgan Angland U17 in the 80mHurdles came 4th in a time of 12.43 – Grace Handley U17 set a new PB in the 3000m finishing 2nd in 10.17.04.

Nick Massey (U15) placed 2nd in the 80mHurdles with 12.14. Nick also featured in the 4 x 100m Relay squad which finished in 4th spot (50.86). Emily Warren (U15) was 3rd in the 75mHurdles in 11.93 and ran in the 4 x 100m Relay Team finishing 5th in 52.52. Maddie Elliott (U15) came in 3rd in the ‘B’ 800m with 2.26.44 which was less than a second outside her PB. Eloise Littlefair set a new PB in the Shot Putt by half a metre – featuring 19 Shot Putters – when she placed 6th with a throw of 10.73m which was a new Club Record.
