NA-logo5Bottom of age U20 Ben Aspinall capped off a really good weekend at the Northern Championships at Sportscity. On Saturday he won the Lancashire County Schools Triple Jump Title after setting a new Long Jump PB (6.19cm). On Sunday Ben jumped to within 4cm of his Triple Jump PB when he landed 13.03m to take the Bronze Medal. Another cracking performance for an athlete who gets better as the season progresses.

Rob Warner who celebrated his twentieth birthday this week and who has also been in good form setting PB’s at 800m, 1500m and 3000m ran in the 5000m Senior Men’s Race, his first ever attempt at the distance on the Track. The final which featured seventeen athletes and won by Chris Livesey (14.45.95) saw Rob continue that really good form with an 8th place 15.11.22 clocking. No doubt there is a sub 15minute run on the cards by the end of the season.

Joe Pearse who won the Lancashire County Schools High Jump with 1.94m the day before at Blackpool, contested the Senior Men’s High Jump and cleared 1.93m the same height as the bronze medalist but finished an agonising fourth on count back. Oliver Aspden another Harrier in really good form ran 55.59sec in the Heat – finishing second – and in doing so knocked four tenths of a second off his PB, but was unable to contest the Final.
