Cameron Massey and Josh van Der Linde were out again at Sportscity in the popular Winter Indoor Series – Fixture 4 of 6 – last weekend putting in some good performances with every event a new personal best or season’s best.

Both athletes took on the 60m Hurdles, 200m and the Shot Putt. In his Heat of the 60m Hurdles, Cameron set a new PB of 9.88 (4th) knocking off just over a tenth, whilst Josh, in his Heat took the win in 9.58 which represented a seasons best.

Onto the 200m which saw Josh set a new PB of 26.16 in 2nd place, cutting nearly a second off his previous best time Indoors. In his Heat, Cameron also set a new Indoor PB of 25.45 placing 2nd.

It was another new PB for Josh in the Shot Putt (5kg) in 5th with a throw of 7.86m and Cameron taking 2nd spot with another seasons best of 9.57m.

Josh commented at the end of the day saying that he thought that the day was very successful but I need to improve in my Shot Putt. But overall a good day of competing“.

Equally Cameron was happy with the days results commenting that he 3 strode again and both Paul (Coach) and i know exactly where we are going forward to improve drastically and hopefully it will reflected at the next sport city fixture – all round it was a good day”.

Sportshall North West U11’s 2016

Six young athletes from the Harriers Sportshall Squad were selected to compete for Lancashire in the North West U11 competition against Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and Cumbria. One of the athletes parents described it “overall it was a smooth running and exciting day for the athletes and a great experience” and another parent commented “All the Blackburn Harriers can be very proud of competing for Lancashire”.

The Girls Team finished in 3rd place with 436 points, just seventeen points off a runners up place whilst the Boys were in 5th place scoring a total of 418 points and just 15 points behind 3rd place Merseyside.

A big well done and congratulations to Emma Love, Eleanor Allsop, Leah Hoole, Harrison Allcock, Ben Boocock an Codie Dewhurst.
