The England Athletics U15/U17/U20 Indoor Championships 2026 was held at the EIS Stadium in Sheffield over the weekend of February 7th & 8th (ALL RESULTS). Blackburn Harriers athletes were out from the off in the 60m with U17 Ernie Hobson – who had set a new personal Indoor best over 200m at Sportcity in January (23.89), followed that up here, setting himself a new PB time of 7.27 as he came home in 4th spot, missing qualification by the slightest of margins 0.02 in the 60m. Charlie Palich went into the National Championhips in good form following new personal bests at 60m and 200m in the Northern Athletics Indoor Championships. Charlie lined up in the U20 Men’s 60m and set off with a bang, clocking a new PB of 6.99 in 4th place as he qualified for the Semi-Final where he placed 6th in a time of 7.00 which was faster than his personal best coming into the Championships. On Sunday, Charlie was back for the 200m – going in Heat 3 and coming home in 3rd place with a time of 22.36 – just 0.01 outside his personal best.

One of the runs of the weekend came on the first day (Saturday) in the U15 Girls 300m where Darcie Belshaw – who had set a new personal best at 60m in the Northern Indoor Championships, destroyed her indoor personal best (45.27) as she clocked 42.95 in 4th place which was a new PB and a new Club Record, bettering Emily Warren’s time set 11 years ago in December 2015 at Sportcity. Kai Addison (U15B) was running the 300m and qualified for the Final after clocking 39.34 in 4th place in Heat 1 followed by a 6th spot in the Final, clocking 40.40. U17 Matt Sharples took on the 400m after running a new personal best at the Northern Athletics Indoor Championships of 51.03 – competing in Heat 1, Matt came home in 2nd spot clocking 51.59 – just missing out on qualification for the Final.

Still on Indoors track and field with the venue changing to Manchester and Sportcity for the latest meeting of the Sale Winter Indoor Series held on Sunday February 8th. (RESULTS). First out of the traps and with a new PB was U17 Keir Michie clocking 7.49 in 3rd place (Heat 12) of the 60m before going on to clock 7.66 (5th) in his second race. After posting a new personal best over 60m at the Northern Indoor Championships, U17 Tomi Birch won Heat 14 in a another new PB time of 7.50 and followed in Heat 15 by U17 Niamh Boland clocking 8.44 in 3rd place. U17 Evie Fort was next up in Heat 17 running 8.92 in 4th place in her first outing of the season. Heat 18 of the 60m had two U17’s racing – Agata Tomasz and Eliza Garcia – Agata making her debut over the distance clocking 9.01 in 4th whilst Eliza clocked 9.06 in 5th and was also running this distance for the very first time. Heat 21 saw U15 Iona Bell take the win with a new PB of 8.35 and in Race 23 Mia Logan (U15) also set herself a new PB of 9.67 (5th).

Millie Jordan wasn’t hanging about in the U17 Girls 600m, going into the race with an Indoor personal best time of 1.40.28 which she destroyed by over two and half seconds in taking the win with a new PB clocking of 1.37.63 and not a bad way to start the indoor season. In the field events, U17 Alex Burns-Groves was taking on his first competition of the indoor season, clearing 1.60m in the A High Jump Pool placing 4th. Keir Michie and Tomi Birch ran the 200m’s – Keir winning his Heat 13 in a new PB time of 23.76 followed by team mate Tomi in the next Heat running 25.35 in 4th spot. Heat 17 had U17 Niamh Boland running close to her indoor personal best clocking 28.30 in 3rd place. The tenth new personal best of the wekend for Blackburn Harriers athletes came in Heat 21 of the 200m for U17W when Eliza Garcia clocked a new PB time of 29.87 in 2nd place and followed by the 11th as Iona Bell took her second win of the day and her second new PB with a time of 27.60. U15’s Georgina Andrews  and Mia Logan finished off the 200m Heats for the Club with Georgina running 30.75 in 4th spot (Heat 26) and Mia 33.08 in 4th spot (Heat 29).
