Pretty decent conditions for a December Saturday evening greeted the fifty eight runners who competed in the last Podium 5k Race of 2015 at Barrowford. The Race run on a flat Cycle Track featuuring five laps in all is definitely one in which a 5k Road PB can be set evidenced by the fact that the first four athletes home all dipped under 15 minutes.

In the A Race – won by James McNally in a rapid time of 14.55 and Rachel Bamford in 16.11 – there were 37 runners and amongst them five Blackburn Harriers. First Harrier home was Karl Billington in his first Race in a month in 15.22 and 9th place overall. He was followed in by Mat Nuttall in 18th (16.06) – U15 Joshua Boyle (23rd) in a time of 16.31 – Shaun Livesey (24th) in 16.33 and Tim Raynes with a new PB of 16.37 in 25th.

Twenty one runners took part in the B Race which was won by Hannah Holroyd in 15.54. Four Blackburn Harriers in this Race with David Almond finishing 2nd overall with a new PB of 17.56. Sarah Toms was 6th overall and 2nd Woman in a time 18.49 which was a new PB on a Road 5k. Mark Almond followed closely behind in 8th place (19.01) with Laura Hesketh just three places further back in 11th with a time of 19.11 which wasn’t far outside her PB.
