The Club had twenty nine runners out at the latest Red Rose Cross Country fixture at Chorley on what turned out be a reasonable day weather wise…although the Course had some ‘wet spots’ and quite a steep climb which the Senior men had to negotiate three times.

First up in the U11 Boys in a 72 strong field were Edward Lee finishing in 22nd place (6.46) and  Rory Teare 28th (7.07). Then came the U11 Girls in their Race of 109 runners led home by Hollie Cubbon in  7th place (6.57) and supported by Eleesha Charnley 11th (7.04) – Leah Hoole 16th (7.14) – Anna Rankine 19th (7.15) – Eleanor Allsop 27th (7.23) – Kate Cookson 44th (7.47).

Just 50 seconds separated the girls U11’s which earned them 2nd place in the Team competition featuring 13 Teams overall.

Great runs by the youngsters.

Podium 5k – Saturday 8th November

Full Results HERE

Billed as the ‘fastest 5k Graded Road Race in the country’ – the inaugural Podium 5k Race took place in conditions which were described as windy, but enjoyed by the competitors on the night.

The Races were split into two with an ‘A’ Race for sub 18 minutes athletes which featured 18 runners  and a ‘B’ Race for sub 23 featuring 14 runners.

Podium 5k told the Club “First event went very well with great support from the harriers, and as you can see from the results some really good close racing. Hopefully the next fixture will be used as a good warm up for the Ribble Valley 10k (next fixture 20th December 6pm)”

Runner up in the ‘A’ Race Ben Fish

Ben Fish finished 2nd (15.04) in a very close race won by Chris Livesey in 15.02. After the Race Ben commented Podium 5k was a cracking event, fast course, just the wind slowed us down. Great to see the Harriers out in force. I had a good run, but was up against it with Chris Livesey and Andy Norman. I know both have a fast finish, so my aim was to hammer it from the front, Andy was dropped after 4k, but Livesey had me in the last 400m”.

Shaun Livesey also commented after the Race that Podium races have great venue. There will be some fast times posted in the summer, you never know I might even break 17mins on it. Conditions weren’t the best last night, but I will be back for more and at £4 entry you can’t go wrong“.

The Harriers had six runners in the ‘A’ Race and two in the ‘B’ Race. In the ‘A’ Race the first three were all under 15.30 with Ben Fish placing 2nd to lead the Harriers home followed by another great run by young U15 Josh Boyle in 9th (16.40) – Jack Hindle 10th (16.55) – Chris Davies 11th (17.06) – V40 Shaun Livesey 12th (17.07) and U17 Joe Monk 14th (17.24). In the ‘B’ Race Allan Hartley came 2nd in 18.54 and V45 Mark Almond 5th in 19.30.

Lancaster Half-Marathon – 2nd Nov

Full Results HERE

Samantha McCreadie was undecided as to whether she should run this Race having carried an injury for some time. In the Race, won by Ben Williams in 73.50, Samantha had a pretty solid run on a not very easy course to finish 67th overall in 92.46.

When the Race was finished, Sam told the Club that it was “a gorgeous day in Lancaster and a fairly flat course with only a couple of hills at the half way point! A really good turn out with over 600 runners and a good atmosphere. I did it in 1:32:46 so 2 minutes off my PB that I got in the Lancaster Castle half – so a little disappointing given that I think it could/should have been a PB course if i’d been fit and injury-free!! It was great to be back racing again though and I’m hoping to get many more in before Christmas!”
