Massive congratulations from everyone here at Blackburn Harriers to Samantha Murray who has been selected to represent Great Britain for Modern Pentathlon in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Samantha won a Silver Medal in the final event of the London 2012 Olympics, went on to win the World Championships in 2015 and has now joined the band of athletes who have contested successive Olympics.

Samantha’s record of achievements speaks for itself and after being told of her selection she told the Club “It’s been a absolutely wonderful day celebrating my olympic selection . I’m so proud to have the opportunity the represent my country for a second time at the Olympics. Thank you to everyone at Blackburn Harriers for your continued support. It’s been a tough road, full of challenges: I just kept going and pulled out my best when it was most needed! I started sports in Lancashire, Blackburn being my running club, it was my dream to compete at the Olympics. I hope my story can inspire others and show that if you work hard enough, you can achieve your goals. “
