Samantha Murray – 1410 points – returned to her best form at the weekend winning the British Open Pentathlon Championships at Bath ahead of GB athletes Kate French (1368) and Joanna Muir (1350) which also meant that Sam gained automatic qualification for the European Championships in Minsk this July. A world class 2.11.74 (1st) in the Swim followed by 29 victories in the Fencing Round (1st) set Sam up for the title.
Sam spoke to the Club following her title winning performance and told us that she was “Very happy to become British Champion 2017! It has been a tough season so far for me. Since returning from Poland, I focused all my efforts on recovery and making myself feel good in all training sessions. I enjoyed each event and was able to focus on my processes. Crossing the line first felt amazing especially as I knew my family were in the crowd. This win automatically qualifies me for the European Championship which take place in Minsk, Belarus in July. Let’s go!”
